A SURFER killed off the coast of Suffolk has today been named by police officers.
Steven David Sparks died after getting into difficulties in the sea off Lowestoft at lunchtime on Saturday.
The 33-year-old from north London was rescued from the water and treated at the scene but was pronounced dead just before 1pm.
An inquest into Mr Sparks’s death was today opened and adjourned.
The cause of death has been given as drowning, a police spokeswoman confirmed.
She said there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
