KING's Lynn's injury-jinxed racer Kozza Smith is a doubt for the club's Premier League double header against Redcar.

The luckless Aussie damaged his hip in Tuesday's televised Elite League 55-36 defeat for Ipswich at Coventry after recently battling back from broken arm, rib and shoulder injuries in a pre-season shunt for the Witches.

Stars' team boss Rob Lyon will give Lynn's reserve as late as possible to prove his fitness before Thursday's Premier League trip to Teeside and the Norfolk Arena return 24 hours later.

Lynn's promotion moved the Bears' scheduled Saddlebow visit from Wednesday to avoid a clash with the Champions League final - a decision that could not work in the club's favour.

“Kozza was in real pain after the crash and had to withdraw from the meeting,” said Lyon. “After being given the all clear by medical staff at the track he returned home but was in serious pain during the night so he has now gone to the hospital for a full check over. We are waiting to hear if he will be fit to ride away at Redcar on Thursday and at home on Friday but we are looking for guests to replace him just in case he isn't.”

Smith was dragged into the air fence at Brandon falling following a three-bike pile up with Coventry racer Jordan Frampton and Ipswich team mate Dawid Stachyra.

The 21-year-old had already picked himself up off the shale after a collision with Ricky Wells in the first run of heat two. Stachyra was treated trackside for burns to his arm before being stretchered out of the meeting. The brave Smith dragged his bike around the track to pocket three points in an uncontested re-run before also retiring.

Lynn's new Swedish recruit Linus Eklof makes his Premier League bow at Redcar after notching paid seven on his first look at the Norfolk Arena in last week's KO Cup quarter final, first leg romp over Berwick.

“Not only was it my first meeting at King's Lynn but also the first time I had ridden the track,” he said. “I was nervous but I started to get the hang of it by my second ride and now this week I am hoping to really attack it and enjoy the meeting a lot more.”

Eklof joined team mate Darcy Ward in the World U21 semi finals after qualifying in second spot over the Bank Holiday weekend at his Norwegian qualifer.

“It has been a long time since the club has had two riders doing so well on the world scene,” said Lyon. “It is a funny coincidence that both riders finished second in both of their rounds but I suppose it shows what great potential Linus has as we all already know how capable Darcy is, the fans should feel really proud.”

Lynn's promotion has announced two fixture changes with the re-scheduled Ashley Jones memorial meeting now arranged for Wednesday, June 24. Scunthorpe will visit the Norfolk Arena in the Premier League a week earlier (June 17) to allow the club to host their Premier Trophy semi-final against either Berwick or Workington on July 15.
