MODEL hopeful Lydia Bareham will today go head to head with girls from across the country in the last stage of a national teenage beauty contest.

The 14-year-old, of Holton, near Halesworth, will travel to London this morning for the finals of the Miss Teen Queen UK contest.

She was chosen from 4,500 entrants and will now go up against 14 other girls in the 13-15 age category.

Lydia, who is home schooled, said: “I'm really excited about it and it should be a fun day.

“We get to have our make-up and hair done, are photographed in a ball gown and are then interviewed by the judges to see if we have the personality they are after. There are some very pretty girls taking part so I'm not expecting to win but it would be nice.”

It Lydia does win she will be crowned Miss Teen Queen 2007 and will go on to represent the UK in other beauty pageants.
