A MAN has collapsed and died at a popular Ipswich fitness club.
The incident happened at 4.45pm on Saturday at the David Lloyd gym on the Ransomes Europark.
It is believed that the 46-year-old man was swimming in the gym's pool when he went into cardiac arrest. One witness heard shouting before seeing lifeguards rushing to the pool area.
Lifeguards and paramedics arrived poolside where the man was given CPR. However a spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed that he had died at the scene.
A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said there had been trouble tracing the man's family, as they are not believed to be local.
A spokesman at David Lloyd gym said they were too distressed to talk about the incident.
