The accident happened in Boxford Lane, Boxford, near Sudbury, shortly before 5.30pm and involved a single car.
Firefighters battled to rescue the casualty who was severely trapped in the vehicle.
Fire engines from Hadleigh, Sudbury and Colchester attended.
The man was taken to Colchester General Hospital but the extent of his injuries is unknown.
The road was blocked while emergency crews worked at the scene.
