A man who was hit by a train in Thetford on Monday is believed to be from the area.
It happened at around 10.45pm near Mundford Road.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said the man, who was killed in the incident, is thought to have been 33-years-old.
He added: “Our officers attended along with colleagues from Norfolk Police and the East of England Ambulance Service.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and officers will now assist in the compilation of a report for the coroner.”
