A man who was unsure of where he was going after arranging to meet a friend has been robbed by two girls that befriended him.

Officers were called just before 1am on Tuesday following reports a man had been assaulted and robbed by two men and two girls in an alleyway in the town centre.

The victim, who is aged 18 and from the Witham area, arrived in Clacton on a bus to meet a friend.

He didn’t know where he was going and two girls befriended him and offered him a place to stay.

They took him to an alleyway where he was slapped and punched by two men whilst the girls took cash from his bag and his mobile phone. He was not injured but was left shaken by the incident.

One of the girls was described as white, with brown shoulder length hair and was wearing a black jacket, black shoes and black leggings.

The other was white, with brown shoulder length hair and was wearing a pink jumper, black leggings and black shoes. The men were over 6ft tall and were wearing dark clothes.

Investigating Officer, Dc Lee Winfield, said: “The alleyway is believed to be in the Jackson Road, Rosemary Road area of the town. However as the victim didn’t know Clacton very well it was difficult to be specific.

“I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who saw the girls talking to the victim before they took him to the alleyway.”

Anybody that can help is asked to contact Dc Winfield at Clacton CID on Essex Police 101.
