Essex fire service was sent to the incident

Firefighters were called to rescue a man who became stuck on the roof of his house after nailing his hand to the rafters.

The incident happened around 4.40pm in Shatters Road, Layer Breton.

The man had misfired his nail gun, which resulted in him pinning his hand to the rafters of the roof.

One fire unit from Tiptree and one from Colchester attended, and used specialist cutting equipment to free him shortly after 5pm.

He was left in the care of paramedics.
