The A12 near Capel St Mary has been closed in one direction because of a crash earlier this evening.
It involved a lorry and a car and happened between junction 32A and 32B on the northbound carriageway near Capel St Mary.
The male driver of the car has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
However they are not believed to be life-threating or life-changing at this stage.
A diversion has been put in place via London Road in the village. A police spokesman said it would remain in place until the vehicle had been recovered.
