A MAN escaped unhurt today after his car was in collision with a petrol station sign on the A14 near Ipswich.

A MAN escaped unhurt today after his car was in collision with a petrol station sign on the A14 near Ipswich.

Police were called at 7.50am to help the man, who is in his 20s, after he collided with the price sign at the Shell garage just off the westbound carriageway.

Firefighters were also alerted after reports of smoke coming from the blue Volkswagen Polo.

Police were due to stay at the scene until the vehicle was recovered.
