THEY say you either love it or hate it - and for five-year-old Georgia Parker she is now totally besotted with Marmite after she opened a tub and found a huge beaming grin on the underside of the lid.

The chance discovery delighted the entire Parker family when Georgia showed it to them at their home in Brockley, near Bury St Edmunds.

Her father, Jason Parker, was so amazed by how perfectly formed the Marmite smile was that he contacted makers, Unilever, to check whether it was part of some promotion they had going.

The firm told him that was not the case and the Marmite smile was nothing more than a happy coincidence with some of the spread coming off the lid and creating the replica of a smiley face.

“It was incredible,” Mr Parker said. “It really does look like a smiling face. It was amazing and really nice thing to find.”

Last month, it was reported that one family from Wales had opened the lid of the popular spread to find the face of Jesus on the jar lid.
