Medal joy for Suffolk cycling star

SUFFOLK cyclist Victoria Pendleton won a silver medal in the Women's 500m time trial at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne today.Pendleton, who hails from Mildenhall, was part of the England team that swept the medals in the individual pursuit at the Vodafone Arena in Melbourne.

Paul Manning, bronze medallist in Manchester four years ago, took gold ahead of Madison world champion Rob Hayles while Stephens Cummings won the bronze medal race.

Jason Queally won silver while Chris Hoy of Scotland lost his Commonwealth title as he had to settle for bronze in the kilometre.
