WEATHER forecasters are expecting warmer weather next week - although the chance of a cold snap cannot be completely ruled out.

Experts said today that is was 60/40 in favour of milder westerly winds moving into the region later this week.

Yesterday many places in Suffolk had a light sprinkling of white, leaving the roads in some areas extremely icy.

However this thawed throughout the day and today there was bright sunshine in some parts, including Ipswich, which has lead to warmer temperatures.

Phil Garner, of forecasters Weathequest, which is based at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, said: “It's in the balance at the moment. The overall suggestion from the Met Office models is that it will get milder as the week goes on.

“The cold air from the north will be cut off as we go into Monday and there will be westerly winds for the rest of the week, which could bring milder conditions.

“However, there is just a chance that we might hold on to the cold air for a little longer. At the moment I'd say it was 60/40 in favour of the milder air coming back.”
