POLICE have charged a man with attempted murder and another with conspiracy to murder following an incident in a Suffolk town centre after a funeral.

POLICE have charged a man with attempted murder and another with conspiracy to murder following an incident in a Suffolk town centre after a funeral.

The incident, in High Street, Newmarket, which happened on June 4, left a man from Lincolnshire with head injuries.

Bobby Frankham, aged 44, of Sandy Lane, Watford, Hertfordshire, has been charged with conspiracy to murder and GBH with intent. Sam Frankham, aged 40, of Dunedin Place, Eastriggs, Annan, Scotland, has been charged with attempted murder and GBH with intent.

Both men, who were charged yesterday, are due before magistrates in Bury St Edmunds, on September 18.

A 17-year-old male, from Cranleigh, Surrey, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder in connection with the incident, is currently on police bail and is due to return to Bury police station on September 16.

A second 17-year-old male - from Chesterton, in Cambridgeshire - arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over the matter, is on police bail and due to return to Bury police station on the same date.

A 48-year-old man, from Cranleigh, arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders in relation to the incident, has had his bail cancelled and no further action will be taken against him.

A 43-year-old man from Cranleigh was charged with attempted murder in June, and is due before Ipswich Crown Court in June 2009.
