A TEENAGE mugger who gave his victim change after threatening to “knock him out” unless he gave him 10 has admitted robbery.

Magistrates heard yesterdaythat the victim was with friends in Christchurch Park, Ipswich, at about 7.15pm on May 1.

A group of other youths, including the 17-year-old defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, called to the victim's group asking for 50p.

The victim replied by saying he only had a 10 note leading to the defendant to shout “give me your money or I will knock you out”.

Fearing for his safety, the victim handed over the 10 and was given 2 to 3 in change by the defendant.

At South East Suffolk Magistrates Court in Ipswich yesterday, the 17-year-old defendant pleaded guilty to robbery. He also pleaded not guilty to a further charge from a separate incident on the same day of assault by beating.

He was released on conditional bail.

A pre-sentence report will be carried out before he is sentenced on July 7. A date is expected to be fixed for his trial in relation to the assault by beating charge on June 30.
