FOUR vehicles have skidded off a country road into a ditch near Stowmarket as plummeting temperatures have caused icy conditions on the county's roads.
At about 3.30pm this afternoon police officers were called to Brettenham Road in Buxhall after a white van had flown off the road and into a ditch.
A second vehicle, a Renault Scenic then left the road landing in the same ditch and was followed by a Skoda Fabia, the next vehicle to leave the road and land in the ditch from the opposite direction.
Within half an hour the four vehicles left the road in separate incidents as ice on the road caused difficult driving conditions for motorists.
All of the vehicles have been pulled out of the ditch but the road remains partially closed as police wait for the Highways Agency to grit the section of road.
A police spokeswoman said: “The road is very slippery and causing bad conditions for drivers.”
