A WOMAN has died after she was stabbed in an early morning attack in Harlow.

The woman, who has not yet been named, was found just after 3am with stab wounds in the Hadley Grange area of the Essex town.

The local woman, in her 60s, was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital by ambulance but died a short time later.

Cordons are in place in the area and forensic examinations are being carried out.

Police believe that the woman's attacker may be covered with blood and have appealed for the public's help.

A post-mortem is set to be carried out this afternoon.

An Essex Police spokesman said: β€œIt is probable that the person responsible will be bloodstained and police would like to hear from anyone who saw someone in the area with blood on them, or who knows of someone arriving home this morning with blood stains on them.”
