Rail company Greater Anglia has installed more than 1,300 seats at stations across its network to make life more comfortable for passengers waiting for trains.
It has installed 450 new three-seater benches and has replaced a further 318 benches with new seats.
If installed end-to-end to the new benches would be more than 1km long and they have been installed at 131 stations in East Anglia.
Greater Anglia’s Director of Asset Management, Simone Bailey, said: “The new platform seating provides more seats at stations and greater comfort for passengers, as well as improved station presentation, at a time when we continue to see increasing passenger numbers.
“It’s part of an ongoing programme of station upgrade projects which are also improving customer information, station lighting, ticket purchasing facilities and wider station presentation standards across our network.”
