PROPOSALS to build a new food store are set to be submitted by the East of England Co-operative Society.
The firm, which is based in Ipswich, has just bought the former Fleetshield garage and workshop premises in East Street, Coggeshall, Essex.
Plans are being prepared for a new food store on the site, which will include customer parking and improved servicing arrangements. It is expected that a planning application will be submitted shortly.
Richard Samson, chief executive, of the East of England Co-op, said: “This is a difficult time for UK retailers, but the Society is financially strong and is able to invest in its businesses, and acquire new stores and properties, without recourse to borrowing.
“We look forward to being able to provide a modern food store for the convenience of our customers in Coggeshall and will be continuing with our active development and improvement programme across the region.”
