Newmarket: Man charged with attempted rape

A MAN is due to appear at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates Court today charged with the attempted rape of a woman in Newmarket.

Kitchen worker Jakir Hussain, 27, of Bahram Close, Newmarket, is accused of attacking a 24-year-old woman in an alleyway running between the High Street and Rowley Drive at around 3.20am on Monday.

A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said Hussain was remanded in custody until today’s scheduled court appearance.
