A 54-YEAR-OLD man is being questioned by police in connection with a suspected armed robbery at a Norwich bank.
The Norwich resident was arrested hours after a robber walked into the Royal Bank of Scotland, in Queen Street, at 3.30pm and demanded money from a cashier.
The thief fled on foot with an unknown amount of cash.
Norfolk Police said armed officers were deployed in Norwich as a “matter of precaution” as it was unclear whether a firearm had been used.
A police helicopter assisted officers in the search for the suspect.
Officers are keen to hear from anyone with any information relating to the robbery.
Witnesses should contact Norfolk Constabulary on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
