Pensioner victim of distraction burglary
AN elderly woman was targeted in a distraction burglary in Newmarket today and police are appealing for information to help with their inquiries.
AN elderly woman was targeted in a distraction burglary in Newmarket today and police are appealing for information to help with their inquiries.
A man called at the home of the woman, in her 80s, in Black Bear Lane at about 1pm.
He asked to check her water supply and took her into the kitchen and ran the taps for about 10 minutes.
When the man left the woman found her purse containing cash was missing.
The man is described as white, in his 40s, about six foot tall, of large build. He was wearing dark clothing.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said: “If you are unsure about a caller at your home do not let them in and call police.”
