Tow dogs and a tortoise were rescued from a house in Colchester after a fire broke out.

It happened at 6.13pm this evening in Battlesbrook Road.

Two fire crews from Colchester wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reel jets to fight the fire.

The blaze was extinguished and the animals rescued by 6.53pm.
