A Suffolk photographer has stepped into a new area of business in order to help promote the areas natural charms.
Tony Pick is best known for his Aldeburgh based photography business, but now he is turning to video to help promote his other passion, the Suffolk Estuary.
Tony has worked for along time alongside the Alde and Ore estuary Partnership, the charity who look after the estuary’s defences, and for a number of years he has provided access to his picture library in order for them to promote the local area.
Now his work will see him go one step further on a professional level by using video to help both his busy and work with the estuary.
“My role with the SOS Estuary is similar role but also now involves video, we’re due to shoot a short film from the air with the drone and also from ground in the next few weeks about the river wall repairs at Aldeburgh and inside of the Aldeburgh marsh that will hopefully be fully landscaped to provide areas for wintering birds etc.”

Tony hopes that these new videos will help to show off the area’s beauty at its best whilst also raising awareness of the environmental issues being faced at the estuary.
“I love the Suffolk landscape, and want to give something back to the beautiful place my family and I live in,” said Tony.

“We’re fortunate to live along the banks of the River Alde at Iken and the estuary is very much part of our lives.
“Without significant investment in maintaining the estuary walls, this landscape will soon not be able to withstand tidal surges, and therefore it is crucial to raise people’s awareness of this.”
Tony has already created two videos focusing on the towns of Aldeburgh and Orford.
The first video, Riding the Waves, features extreme swimmers taking to the waves in Aldeburgh on New Year’s Eve when temperatures dipped to a chilly 6C degrees.
The latter video simply titled ‘Orford, a beautiful place’ focuses on the tourist attractions in the town including the castle and the Orfordness Lighthouse as well as showing fishermen at work in the area.
Tony says that reaction to these initial videos have been positive and have attracted several thousands views each online.
