Dramatic pictures of a fire which engulfed a flat in Walton-on-the-Naze town centre have been released by Essex Fire and Rescue Service.
On arrival at the incident, which was reported just before midday yesterday, the fire commander said that the flat above a shop in High Street was “completely alight”.
The blaze, which had also spread into the roof space of the building, completely destroyed the interior of the flat.
Crews from Frinton, Colchester and two from Clacton attended the incident.
The fire service said crews wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets and two main jets to tackle the blaze. No-one was injured in the incident, which was under control by 1.35pm. An investigation into the cause of the fire has now been launched.
