Leave extra time for your journey if it’s likely to be affected by roadworks.

Here are some ongoing works in Suffolk and Essex over the next few weeks:

•Bury St Edmunds

Due to gas maintenance works in St Andrew’s Street South, in the town centre, part of the road is closed.

Cadent are replacing old iron gas mains with more durable plastic pipes to ensure there is a safe and reliable gas supply to local businesses and residents.

The works are continuing until November 5.

•Ipswich

Cornhill regeneration works by Suffolk County Council in Princes Street may cause delays for drivers.

They are due to finish by October 31.

•A12

There are full overnight road closures on weeknights only on the A12 southbound between junctions 17 and 15 until October 1.

The works include refreshing worn line markings and the installation of new reflective road studs.

A clearly signed diversion will direct southbound A12 traffic from junction 19 (Boreham Interchange) onto the A130, A1016 and A414, rejoining the carriageway at junction 15.

•A14

There are four night closures (9pm to 6am) on the A14 westbound Brampton Hut junction 21 to Ellington junction 20 from tomorrow to September 27.

This is due to the £1.5billion A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme, including a major new bypass to the south of Huntingdon and upgrades to 21 miles of the A14.

Work officially started in November 2016 and the new road is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2020.
