Emergency services were called to a street in Essex today after reports of a serious gas leak.
Police closed off Watchouse Road, in Galleywood at around 11.30am.
National Grid engineers are working at the scene but have not asked for any homes to be evacuated. Instead, residents in the area have been asked to stay indoors and keep windows closed.
Members of the public have been asked to avoid entering the area near the leak and drivers should seek alternative routes to avoid Watchouse Road, which is closed between Pipers Tye and Stock Road.
