Emergency services were called to the Orwell Bridge area on Sunday afternoon after two motorists reported seeing a man leaning over the bridge parapet.

Police attended very quickly after receiving the call and the police helicopter was despatched from Boreham in Essex.

A coastguard vessel was launched from the Strand at Wherstead to join the search.

However nothing was found – there was no evidence of anyone falling from the bridge and the search was called off later during the afternoon.
