DETECTIVES have launched an investigation after an 18-year-old girl claimed she was raped in a Suffolk town.

A public footpath was today cordoned off near Bury Rugby Club as scenes of crime officers hunted for clues following the alleged early morning attack.

And police have focused their appeal for information on two men - said to have been at Club Brazilia in the town before going to a party close to where the alleged attack took place.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said the teenager had said she had been raped sometime between 3.30am and 3.55am today.

Officers have cordoned off an area along a public footpath, which leads from St Botolph's Lane past the rugby pitch, called No Man's Meadow.

The spokesman said: “Enquiries are at an early stage. Officers would like to speak to two white males, who went to Club Brazilia in Bury and then went to a party in the St Botolph's Lane area, who may hold vital information about this incident.”

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Det Insp Dave Giles at Bury CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
