AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a suspected attempt to abduct an Essex schoolgirl.
AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a suspected attempt to abduct an Essex schoolgirl.
The girl was walking with the aid of crutches in Winstree Road, Colchester when a man in a car pulled up beside her and allegedly tried to grab her this morning.
A spokesman for Essex police said: “About 8am a school girl on crutches was approached by a man driving a four door old red estate car.
“The girl believed that the man, who told her to get in the car, made an attempt to grab her before driving off at high speed towards Villa Way, Stanway.”
The man has been described as white, in his 40s with black hair, stubble and wearing a black suit jacket and a shirt but no tie.
Anyone with information about the incident, or who recognises the description, is asked to call PC Joe Loftus of the neighbourhood schools policing team on 01206 462512.
