During Operation Calypso yesterday five drivers were given a 60 fine for not wearing a seatbelt and four cars were seized when officers discovered they were being driven with no insurance.
Two drivers were given an 60 fine and three points on their licence for using a mobile phone and police stopped and searched several other drivers on Clacton's roads.
Police community support officer (PCSO) Matt Green said: “Our specific focus was on west Clacton and our aim was to tackle any traffic issues, such as drivers not wearing seatbelts, using mobile phones and speeding.”
“We are determined to make Clacton's roads safe for both drivers and other road users and will not tolerate people who break the law.”
