Amanda Bennett, 42, of Swinburne Road, Ipswich, died at Ipswich hospital in the early hours of last Friday.
She was found two days earlier collapsed behind shops in Cambridge Drive.
A post mortem examination conducted yesterday was inconclusive and further tests are required.
Michael Smith, 44, of Jasmine Close, Trimley St Martin, was arrested shortly after the incident on suspicion of supplying a controlled substance.
He was charged with supplying heroin and remanded in custody to appear at the South East Suffolk Magistrates Court at 10am on September 25.
