Rush hour trains from East Anglia to Liverpool Street were being disrupted on Wednesday morning by a signalling problem in the Stratford area.
The fault happened at about 7am with trains being delayed by about 10 minutes – although rail operator Greater Anglia warned there could be further delays or cancellations.
Trains to all destinations that use Stratford were being affected by the problem – InterCity services from Ipswich, Stowmarket and Colchester as well as suburban trains from Clacton and Braintree.
Network Rail engineers were on their way to the scene of the problem and were hoping to restore a normal service by 8am – but Greater Anglia were advising passengers to keep an eye on their Twitter feed for the latest updates.
Other services using Stratford including the London Overground and TFL Metro services between Liverpool Street and Shenfield stations were also being affected by the problem – which was not helped by more problems on the North London line which links to the main line at Stratford.
