A MISERABLE August is set to come to an end with thunder storms and rain on Sunday, forecasters have warned.

This month has seen the least sun since records begin in 1912 as well as being the most rain-sodden for four years.

And, while some parts of the country will see temperatures touching 27C tomorrow, the weather is set to revert to form on Sunday to end the month with storms.

It seems there is little hope of September bringing any respite - showers are forecast for the first week, as well as falling temperatures.
