Serious injuries have been sustained in a crash in Blake End, Rayne.
It involved one vehicle, which ended up on its side in a ditch at about 4.55pm today.
A spokesman for Essex Police said serious injuries has been sustained, but was unable to say whether by the driver or a passenger.
Two fire engines from Braintree attended the scene.
Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to free the casualty from the car. They were left in the care of the ambulance service.
