POLICE say they have successfully identified a man found in a river in Ipswich last week.
The body was found at shortly before 4pm on Thursday in the River Gipping, near West End Road, Ipswich.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said: “Ipswich police are satisfied that they have now established the identity of the male found just before 4 pm Thursday June 5, 2008, in the River Gipping near West End Road, Ipswich.
“However, they are still trying to identify next of kin.
“The post mortem has been conducted today.
“It revealed no suspicious circumstances but failed to establish a cause of death.
“Therefore, further tests will be required.”
An inquest will be conducted in due course.
