ROCKETS Team Boss John Sampford was left wondering what might have been after the 47-43 win over Birmingham on Easter Monday.

Leading by four points going into Heat 14 the home side looked odds on to double that lead when Luke Bowen lying second behind Kyle Hughes suffered a heartbreaking engine failure.

Afterwards Sampford counted the cost of a dropped league point saying “But for an engine failure we could have had all three points. Its most unlike Luke he looks after his machinery so well and its always in immaculate condition. But it’s just one of things unfortunately racing engines do go without warning and that’s what happened its expensive for Luke and it almost definitely cost us a league point.”Despite his disappointment Sampford was pleased with a performance full of character from the Rockets against a team he is tipping for honours. “At the end of the day we hung in there at got a win against a team that if they avoid injury I have no doubt will be in the top two at the end of the season.”
