A middle aged man is said to have walked past a girl waiting for a bus while lifting his top before asking her to “look at his bike round the back”.

Suffolk police received reports of an alleged accosting, which is said to have happened in Saxmundham High Street at around 7.30am.

The victim’s mother took to social media to warn other parents about the man’s actions.

She said her daughter was “very shaken up” but thanked a woman in a car who also witnessed the incident and had shouted at the man.

“It was so nice someone was keeping her eye on him,” she said.

A Suffolk police spokesman confirmed it enquiries were ongoing following the reported incident near to the Mandarin House Chinese Takeaway.

“A male is alleged to have walked past a bus stop lifting up his top,” the spokesman added.

“It was suggested someone go round the back to look at his bike.”

People with information are asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 140 on September 17.
