The second phase of work to improve the A12 between East Bergholt and Ipswich is set to begin on Monday.
Highways Agency contractors will be carrying out resurfacing, drainage works and barrier upgrades along the road from junctions 31 to 33, where it joins the A14, now preparatory work is complete.
A contraflow will be in place for around eight weeks, with work taking placing between 10pm and 6am.
There will be a temporary road closure when the direction of the contraflow is switched between carriageways.
Work is dependent on weather conditions.
