A SUFFOLK pub is just two investments from becoming entirely owned by community shareholders.
The Sorrel Horse, in Shottisham, near Woodbridge, was saved from closure when regulars and locals clubbed together to buy the freehold in August 2011. Since then, 898 shares have been sold in The Sorrel Horse Shottisham Ltd to people wanting to own a piece of the pub, with each shareholder retaining up to 5% of the total value.
Just two £500 shares remain in The Sorrel Horse, which has recently undergone extensive refurbishment and has enjoyed a 39% increase in turnover in the last year.
