POLICE are investigating two attempted thefts of ATMs in Essex overnight.
The first happened in Swan Street, Sible Hedingham, around 11.25pm, when attempts were made to steal the ATM at the Total Service Station, using a blue 4 x 4 vehicle to pull it from the wall.
This vehicle, which is also believed to have been stolen, was left with the ATM at the scene. A red Subaru was also believed to have been used during the attempted theft.
This vehicle was later reported as being seen outside the Co-Op store in Havengore, Chelmsford, at around 12.30am, where offenders tried to remove the ATM from the store by smashing a glass door panel.
Nothing is believed to have been stolen from inside, and the ATM was not removed.
Anyone with information about the incidents or the movements of the red Subaru is asked to contact Chelmsford CID on 101.
