Trains heading to London on the Great Eastern Main Line are being delayed or cancelled this morning because of an earlier electrical problem.
The issue was at Ingatestone and meant services had to run at reduced speeds.
Greater Anglia said this is added around 15 minutes to journey times. However some trains were being terminated early.
The problem was attributed to a failed track circuit – a piece of signalling technology which detects where trains are on the railway network.
Network Rail engineers have now fixed the problem but delays are still to be expected while the service recovers.
