A MAN was declared dead aboard a fishing boat off the coast of Clacton-on-Sea in the early hours of this morning.
Thames Coastguard received a call from a crew member on board the vessel 'Ocean Vanguard' when it was seven miles off the Essex coast.
The skipper, believed to be about 40 years old, was reported to have collapsed in the wheel house.
A rescue helicopter and Clacton RNLI lifeboat carrying a doctor on board were deployed.
Both the doctor and helicopter paramedic carried out resuscitation on the casualty but the man was declared dead on board.
The deceased man was brought ashore by the Clacton lifeboat, who was met by Essex police and an ambulance crew.
A spokesman for the coastguard said it is thought the deceased man was from the Southend area.
