AN investigation into the alleged theft of 20 prized fish was brought to an abrupt end - when they were found never to have left their pond.
Suffolk police was called in by the elderly owner of the goldfish and koi carp in Cross Street, Elmswell. The man claimed his fish had been stolen from the pond in his front garden.
Police spoke to a number of fish experts in their bid to locate the missing fish. But when they went back to see the presumed victim, the fish were in the pond. It is thought the fish had gone deeper into the water to avoid the recent cold weather. A police spokeswoman said: “The fish are all present and correct. We have looked into it and are happy that no crime has been committed.”
