A lane has been reopened on the A142 near Newmarket after the road was “completely blocked by a very large tree” during Storm Ciara.
Mildenhall Police Tweeted earlier that the southbound route, between Fordham and Newmarket, would be closed until Highways England or Suffolk Highways - which look after the county's road network - could attend the incident.

Now it has Tweeted a new photo of workers clearing the route, saying that one lane would now be opened.
It said Suffolk Fire and Rescue and Suffolk police worked together on the clean-up operation, but that Highways England or Suffolk Highways would need to attend to take care of the largest chunk of the fallen tree.
There have been numerous delays across the county due to Storm Ciara, which has seen winds reach speeds of around 70mph in Mildenhall and other places.
And there is more to come, with people warned of torrential rain on the way later this afternoon and this evening.

Police have already responded to a number of incidents where trees have blocked the road, including in Kesgrave and on the A143 near Bury St Edmunds.
However, the force have asked the public to only call 999 for instances involving injuries or a threat to life.
