Residents at a Stowmarket care home came face-to-face with some feathered friends as they took part in this year’s RSPB Big Garden Watch.
Cedrus House, in Creeting Road East, had bird feeders and binoculars at the ready as residents jotted down the number and species of birds they spotted in their garden.
They also had a special visit from a Jess Barrell from Suffolk Owl Sanctuary with tawny owl Rascal.
Michelle Webster, home manager, said the residents loved taking part.
She said: “The birdwatch is a popular activity with our residents every year, so we were delighted to welcome Suffolk Owl Sanctuary to join us for the big event.”
She said outdoor activities have many benefits for older people, especially those living with dementia.
“Birdwatching can act as a valuable reminiscence activity, as the distinctive sights and sounds of birds in the garden can help evoke memories,” she said.
