BURGLARS climbed a drainpipe in broad daylight and broke into a home to steal jewellery worth a five figure sum.

It happened in Needham Road, Stowmarket, between 1.15pm and 2.20pm yesterday.

The suspects are believed to have entered the property through a first floor window.

The owner of the house arrived back at 2.20pm to find a piece of drainpipe on the floor outside and two men walking up the driveway.

She challenged them and they ran off into Wynton Rise.

They then ran back into Needham Road and got into a small white van, which drove off at speed with its doors still open.

The first man is described as white, in his early 30s, around 5ft9in tall, of slim build, with a thin face, high cheekbones, dark eyes and short strawberry blonde hair. He was wearing light blue jeans and a navy jacket made of shiny material.

The second man is described as white, in his 30s, taller than the first man, of muscular build and was wearing a light coloured t-shirt, washed out jeans with a black belt and was carrying a cream drawstring bag.

The driver of the van is described as male, white and wearing a grey t-shirt.

Police have not revealed the exact worth of the jewellery, although they have confirmed it is a five figure sum.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the men or the van, or anyone with information about this incident, is asked to contact officers as soon as possible.
