The Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket is set to plant the first seedling in a brand new 67-tree apple orchard as part of its inaugural Cider and Song festival.
The festival dedicated to specialist craft ciders and home-grown music prefaces an exciting era for the museum – as it prepares to launch its Heritage Farm, featuring the brand new orchard and animal and crops area, in Spring 2019.
As visitors explore the range of craft ciders and apple juices on offer, there will be a range of apple experts on hand to answer questions – as well as the opportunity to make their very own apple juice with fruit from home.
Music will be provided by the Rogue Shanty Buoys, a shanty crew from Lowestoft, Suffolk’s own Quay Street Whalers and the Company of Horham Old School – a collective of singers, players and dancers.
There will also be a range of family activities on offer, including a show from the Nutmeg Puppet Theatre, have-a-go archery and apple-based craft activities and stories.
The event will take place on Saturday, October 20, with a preview evening featuring a coveted tasting experience on Friday, October 19.
Tickets will be available soon, with entry to the evening concerts costing £5 and the daytime events free with standard museum entry.
