A display of giant mushroom wooden sculptures has been created by a Suffolk artist to help raise funds for a breast cancer charity.

Robert Yates, the owner of the Brampton Willows firm based near Beccles, created the clutch of giant mushrooms to be displayed as part of the Art for Cure exhibition at Glemham Hall in aid of Breast Cancer Now.

Mr Yates will be one of 80 exhibitors at the event, being held from April 30 to May 2.

Speaking ahead of the event, Mr Yates said: “I’m very proud to be contributing to this event again and it is for such a noble cause which is close to most people’s hearts.

“I wanted to take the theme of my work onto another level by making a feature out of the steel rather than covering it with willow.

“The colour and the texture of patinated - or rusty - steel and willow are a wonderful combination.”

In 2014, Art for Cure raised in excess of £100,000 last year, with organisers hoping for an even larger total this year with more than 3,000 guests expected to visit.

Organiser Belinda Gray said: “We hope that this larger, high profile event, with the added support of a successful publicity plan, will enable us to surpass the totals raised in 2014 for this wonderful and worthy charity, supporting the care and cure of breast cancer.”
