Two Suffolk charities teamed up last night to put on a glittering ball.

The Glitter Ball held at Milsom The Hangar in Kesgrave Hall was held to support Inspire Suffolk and the GeeWizz charitable foundation.

Around 260 guests attended the event which was hosted by TV presenter Chris Hollins.

Inspire Suffolk helps young people to overcome challenges and take steps to get themselves back into employment and further training.

Terry Baxter, chief executive of Inspire Suffolk, said: “We have always received fantastic support for our Inspire Suffolk events and we were delighted to partner up with GeeWizz for this special occasion.

“We would like to join Gina and the GeeWizz team in thanking everyone who supported the evening and helped raise a fantastic amount for so many worthwhile causes.”

GeeWizz helps to support local people who are disabled or young people and their families who are living with cancer.

Gina Long MBE, founder of GeeWizz, said: “It has been a wonderful night where everyone in the room has made a direct difference to their local community by raising crucial funds for our charities.

“It has been wonderful working with Inspire Suffolk as we share a passion and commitment to provide life-changing support and intervention to all we work with.”

A grand auction was held at the event helping to add to the final total raised on the night.

The auction was hosted by Edward Crichton, of Lacy Scott and Knight, with a number of fantastic prizes from the likes of Beatles photographer Tom Murray, the award-winning restaurant Maison Bleue, Tony Malloy and Mike Spencer and Liz Horsman all donating prizes.

Acclaimed London-based sculptor Shaun Brosnan donated the golden ticket prize of an exclusive piece of art.

Artist Ben Mosley became the artist in residence for the evening producing a unique piece of art that could also be bid for. Inspire Suffolk and GeeWizz are Charities of the Year for Archant, publisher of this paper.

Brad Jones, editor of the EADT and Ipswich Star, said: “It was a privilege to attend the Glitter Ball and continue our support of two very worthwhile charities that do so much, for so many, in our local community.”
